USI ??

India is the seventh largest nation in the world in terms of area and second largest in terms of population, comprising of 28 states. Each one having its distinct culture- traditions, rituals and language etc.Among these diversities, the feeling of nationhood is being effaced. With regionalism, religionalism, linguism and casteism being conspicuously prevalent in the nation, national integrity is highly implausible.
A large part of South India( especially Karanataka and Tamil nadu) is unfamiliar with our mother tongue, Hindi.Conversation between a north and a South Indian is highly unfeasible which further leads to obscuration of each others’cultures on a quid pro quo basis. Without a common language which is understood by the whole country (common binding language) ,the notion of ‘integrity’ seems too far-fetched.
Secondly, a feeling among few sections to part away from the country is a major logjam in the process of ‘National Integration’.For example, a clout of Sikhs demanding sovereignty under a new state of ‘Khalistan’, with Jammu-Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) , United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) as their counterparts in the northern and eastern provinces.
What is more distressing is that our leaders,( supposedly ‘the saviours of nation’ ) never think in terms of nation as a whole. In the crave for power , they forget nationalism and boisterously attempt to prove the superiority of the culture, language, tradititons etc of their ‘ vote bank’ in particular.
These are few among numerous factors which pose a threat to national integration .
On the contrary is United States of America USA , the third largest country consisting of 50 states.
Can our motherland ever be ‘United States of India(USI)’? I have some trepidations!!

for a country which has always claimed to be the strongest contender of an example of Unity in Diversity, the above seems to be the hidden truth behind the farce. a country which has been striving to attain a Uniform Civil Code for years now, yet not even reaching to a sustainable proposal for same ,the dream of a common language seems too far fetched. but wasnt inida all about amalgamting the diferent cultures, traditions, mores, practices in the existing system and moving forward with it, but yet this notion of religion, community, caste, region etc which have been deeply seated in the indian diaspora have disturbed the notion of INTEGRITY. the feeling of being allienated from the mainstram which is very strong in the minds of the people of J& K and North East creates another hindrance to this goal of integration.
Unity wont be achieved if we have a commom language or give the rebels their desired protions of our motherland but it wud be achieved if we change our mindset our attitudes. the required word is "TOLERANCE". we might not accept the culture or mores of others but we can definatley have a level of tolerance towards them. a secular State as we claim ourselves to be is not the one wherein religion has no space but the one which can offer equal respect and tolerance to every religion practiced therein. so i wuold not say we need to be unified forgetting our diversities, but we need to value and respect our diversities to be Integrated and endeavour to make our motherland a batter place to be.......

Govt should take stern action against those institutions/groups which provoke anti-nationalist feelings (such as JKLF,ULFA,Hurriyat etc) akin to China and USA. Or else, negligence would encourage further formation of such groups.
Brutality and torture is the only resolution against treachery.

i dont agree on brutality or torture being a solution to anything int he world. coz hatred only perpetuates itself in more hatred. And any form of torture to anyone, even terrorists is striclty prohibited by the norms accepted by civilzed nations, i mean by the international law. the beuraucracy all over the world has accepted it to be against the norms of humanity. a stern action by the govt is required though. but it has to be in form of retributive and reformative action and the responsiblity lies on not just the govt but all of us to make these rebels feel that they are part of the mainstram and not the neglected lot, the worst player in this scenerio is the illiteracy level in the country, which allures the unmindful youth into these treacherous or destructive activities, so lets change the attitude and not charge them with further reasons to feel we are indifferent towards their demands, their needs, or their existence

Our railway minister "shriman" Laloo Prasad Yadav didn't have the scruples to stand while the national anthem was being played.

Oh!may be,he couldn't recognize the song??
Just hope that he and his co-politicians don't forget our "tricolour".
